Captylo AI, MCP and API

Ask your meetings. Or hand them to your AI.

Captylo AI, our own AI service in the Pro plan, answers questions about one meeting or all your meetings and notes at once, and shows where each answer comes from. And over the MCP server, the assistant you already use can read your meetings and notes too.

  • Ask about one meeting or all of them (Pro)
  • “Ask all” reads your notes too, N1, N2 citations open them
  • A [12:34] citation opens the transcript at that line
  • “Ask all” sends only the matching excerpts to AI

Your AI assistant can read your meetings and notes

Captylo has an MCP server. Connect it to the assistant you use and it can search and read the meetings and notes on your Mac. Captylo sends nothing by itself: it answers only the assistant you connect.

  • Read-only: the assistant cannot change or delete a meeting or a note
  • Tools for meetings and notes: search, list_notes, get_note
  • Off by default, part of the Free plan

Connect your assistant in a minute

You copy the configuration from the app with one button. It looks like this:

  1. 1

    In Captylo open Settings > Meetings and turn on “Access for AI assistants (MCP)”.

  2. 2

    Click “Copy configuration”.

  3. 3

    Paste it into the MCP server configuration of your assistant (in Claude Desktop: Settings > Developer > Edit Config) and restart it.

  4. 4

    Ask about a meeting. The assistant starts Captylo in read-only mode by itself; the app does not need to be running.

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "captylo": {
      "command": "/Applications/Captylo.app/Contents/MacOS/Captylo",
      "args": [
        "--mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

The path depends on where Captylo is installed. The button in the app fills in the right one.

Coming soon: a public API

We are building a public API for your automations: your Captylo meetings and notes in your own scripts and tools. It is in the works and not available yet. We will not give a date until it is ready.

Questions about Captylo AI and MCP

What to know before you ask about your first meeting.

What is Captylo AI?

It is our own AI service in the Pro plan. It writes meeting notes, answers in Ask and tidies text up with AI modes, with no keys of your own to set up. Answers in Ask point to the moments of the call they come from.

What is the difference between Ask and Ask all?

Ask answers questions about one meeting, from its transcript. Ask all looks for the answer in all the meetings on your Mac and sends only the matching excerpts to AI, never whole transcripts. Both are part of Pro, and the answers carry time stamps such as [12:34] that open the transcript at that line.

How do I connect Claude Desktop or Cursor to my meetings?

In Captylo open Settings > Meetings, turn on “Access for AI assistants (MCP)” and click “Copy configuration”. Paste it into the MCP server configuration of your assistant (in Claude Desktop: Settings > Developer > Edit Config) and restart it. The MCP server runs on your Mac, read-only, in the Free plan too.

What does an AI assistant see over MCP?

The meetings and notes on your Mac: the list of meetings, search results (with the notes they find), a meeting’s AI notes and full transcript, and since version 1.0.16 your notes too (the list_notes and get_note tools). The server is read-only, so the assistant cannot change or delete anything. Captylo sends nothing by itself, but the assistant passes what it reads to its own service, like the rest of your chat with it.

Does Captylo have an API?

Not yet. A public API for automations is in the works. Until then the local MCP server reads your meetings, and you can export any meeting to Markdown and an open JSON format.
