New · in the Free plan
Notes by voice. They stay on your Mac.
Captylo now has Notes, next to Meetings and History. Type, dictate or record a voice note from any app, and Captylo keeps the recording together with its text. It all runs on your Mac, for free.
- “New note”: type, or press “Dictate” and keep talking
- Your usual dictation shortcut works inside a note too
- Notes has its own search
⌃⌥⌘N: a voice note from any app
Press the shortcut wherever you are, say what you want to remember and press it again. Nothing is pasted: the recording and its transcript go to Notes, and the “Note saved” message opens it right away.
- The same from the menu bar: “New voice note”
- The recording stays with the note, so you can play it back
- You can turn the shortcut off in Settings
Turn recordings and voice messages into notes
Click “Import recording” or drag audio files onto Notes. Recordings and voice messages from messengers become notes with their transcript, and each one keeps its recording.
- Several files at once: Captylo transcribes them one by one
- If a recording cannot be transcribed, the note keeps it and offers “Try again”
Tidy a note up with an AI mode
Run a note through any of your AI modes: Cleanup, Organize thoughts, Task list or one of your own. “Restore original” brings your text back. Pick a mode next to this and watch the note change.
- In the Free plan with your own AI key
- In Pro on Captylo AI, with no keys
- With AI on, a note gets a short title; a title you type always wins
Campaign idea
Oct 8, 13:12
Autumn campaign: short videos instead of banners.
- Three 15-second spots
- A test on two audiences first
- Budget by Friday
Find a note. From the meetings search too
Notes has its own search. And when you search Meetings, Captylo lists the notes that match too (“Also in notes”), so you do not have to remember where you wrote something down.
- Search runs on your Mac
- “Ask all” (Pro) reads your notes too, N1, N2 citations open them
- Your AI assistant reads your notes over the MCP server
Coming soon: sync and a new editor
Syncing notes between devices is in the works: your data is ready for it, but for now nothing leaves your Mac. We are also building a nicer notes editor with Markdown and AI. We will not give a date until they are ready.
Questions about notes
What to know before you save your first note.
Are notes free?
Yes. Notes, voice notes, importing recordings and search are part of the Free plan, on your Mac. Tidying a note up with an AI mode works in Free with your own key, and in Pro on Captylo AI, with no keys.
How do I record a voice note?
Press ⌃⌥⌘N in any app, say what you want to remember and press the shortcut again. Nothing is pasted: the recording and its transcript go to Notes, and the “Note saved” message opens it with one click. The menu bar does the same (“New voice note”), and you can turn the shortcut off in Settings.
Can I turn a voice message from a messenger into text?
Yes. Save the voice message as a file, then click “Import recording” in Notes or drag the file onto Notes. Captylo turns it into a note with its transcript and keeps the recording with it. If a recording cannot be transcribed, the note keeps it and offers “Try again”.
How does AI tidy up a note?
In a note, click “Tidy up with AI” and pick a mode: Cleanup, Organize thoughts, Task list or one of your own. AI rewrites the note, and “Restore original” brings your text back. In the Free plan it uses your own AI key, in Pro it runs on Captylo AI.
Do notes sync between devices?
Not yet. Sync between devices is in the works and your data is ready for it, but today your notes live only on your Mac. Something goes to the cloud only when you use the cloud or AI yourself, as with dictation.
